Students are introduced to concepts of interactivity, immersion, and virtuality. Practically, students gain exposure and facility with interactive programs, loops and interfaces in code environments or languages such as Processing, HTML 5, and/or Flash.   (3) The first half of this course provides a critical overview of concepts of interactivity and immersion, historically and within new media and digital culture; the second half of the course is devoted to a very basic introduction to building and using interactive structures, drawing on and developing skills and methods taught in earlier courses in the sequence. This course focuses not only on how digital resources have evolved in humanities disciplines and humanities-centered interdisciplinary research, but also explores the use of these resources through the examination of existing projects, including interdisciplinary databases, electronic texts, mapping and digital history projects, and New Media projects.
