  Description: This course will focus on Cyber and Corporate crime. The course will begin with an analysis of corporate crime and what it is, along with its' continuing growth as a form of crime. The class will also focus on how information related to crime is stored, analyzed, and how to preserve that data for successful investigation/prosecution, tracking, digital footprints. The Corporate Crime section of the course will cover mail and wire fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice, security fraud/insider trading/accounting fraud, foreign corrupt practices act, corporate criminal liability, and 5th & 6th amendment application within corporate crime.   Description: The purpose of this course is to provide students with a substantial foundation in understanding of the Criminal Investigations field. Criminal Investigations presents the procedures, techniques, and applications of private and public investigations. Students will gain a detailed understanding of evidence, the strengths and weaknesses of the field, as well as opportunities and threats to conducting criminal investigations. Students will also review case studies to ensure the scholar grasps the objectives being reviewed and to enhance the learning environment. Within this course students will be familiarized with social theories that seek to provide a deeper understanding of criminals and crime, as an addition to the course's fundamental goals. We'll look at where we are now and where we might go in our attempts to enhance the Criminal Investigation field in the United States. Prerequisite: SOCL 227
