Description: This course examines the complex relationship between crime, the criminal justice system, and minority status (race, ethnicity, and religious affiliation). The roles of larger social factors such as income, education, residential status, and gender will be utilized to break down these issues. Finally, the experiences of minorities within the criminal justice system will be analyzed to consider the impact of minority status on justice outcomes. Prerequisite: SOCL 101 or 201, and SOCL 227.
