An introduction to astronomy. (This course is the Honors College equivalent of ASTR 129.) Topics considered include brief history of astronomy, coordinates, time, the earth's structure and motion, astronomical instrumentation, the moon, eclipses, comets, meteors, interplanetary medium, stars, star clusters, interstellar matter, galaxies and cosmology. The course assumes a working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry.
