This course builds on the introductory knowledge of students with intellectual disabilities gained in EDFS 401 by offering an in-depth analysis of common characteristics of individuals with intellectual disabilities, including an analysis of theory and practice related to identification as well as educational and community programs and provisions. An in-depth study of educational procedures, curriculum, methods and materials used to teach children and youth with varying degrees intellectual disabilities is offered, including teaching procedures, systems of support, development and use of materials, technology and classroom management techniques.
