3 hours. Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of READ 0099 and ENGL 0099. A survey of United States history to the post-Civil War period. This course covers the major social, economic, political, and cultural issues which accompanied the development of American life from pre-Columbian beginnings to Reconstruction. A particular emphasis will be placed on the role of Georgia in the development of the nation. Fall, Spring, Summer.
