(3 credits)(Prereq: ITAL*305 or permission of instructor) This course critically discusses a selection of Italian literary texts from the Middle Ages to the contemporary time and their adaptations into cinematic products. It addresses questions related to language, style, and context in which texts and films are produced while taking a close look at the cinematic conversation and techniques of transposition. Texts draw from a wide range of genres (short stories, novels, theater plays, fairy tales, graphic narratives) including popular works such as The Decameron, Pinocchio, and Gomorrah.
