Description:
This course builds upon an understanding of the fundamental principles of transmission and molecular genetics. Topics include molecular mechanisms and organismal consequences of mutation and DNA repair, transposable elements, and chromosome rearrangements. Bacterial genetics will also be a major topic. The laboratory portion of the course will further refine basic lab skills and introduce more advanced techniques. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory weekly. Prerequisite: "C" or better in BIOL 312. Four credit hours.
