This course examines contemporary criminology theory as it contributes to the current criminal justice policies. Special attention is paid to the application of theory in the policy-making process involving executive branch implementation and the diverse effects of policies on different social groups. Current topics such as addictions, cybersecurity, domestic violence, terrorism, alternatives to incarceration to include specialty courts, juvenile justice, and re-entry programs may be covered. Three credit hours.
