This course examines communication strategies, theories, and methods needed to convey essential information during diverse crisis situations to all relevant actors and the public. Students will learn the process of developing a crisis communication plan. Case studies will be used throughout the course to analyze successes and failures of crisis communication in past events. Specific emphasis will be placed on the role of the Public Information Officer (PIO) during times of crisis. Cross-listed with EMGT 620. Three credit hours.
