This course is focused on the study of college athletics and is designed to provide an overview of the administration of intercollegiate sports at multiple levels (NCAA, NAIA, Junior College) of competition. With the athletic administration of college sports serving as the primary focus of this course, students will also review the history of college sports, the role college sports play in society, and the future of sport on postsecondary campuses. Upon completion of this course, students will have also been provided with an overview of such topics as leadership and administration, personnel management/human resources, event and game management, marketing, fundraising, budgeting, academic support, and compliance with institution, conference, and association bylaws in addition to legal statutes and laws.
