The intersections between music, gender, and sexuality in popular and classical music traditions. Topics will include feminist and queer music history, and how music can communicate issues of gender, sexuality, identity, and desire. We will study songs in a variety of genres including musical theatre, rock, folk, dance music, symphony, and opera. Prerequisite: ENGL U102.
