ENGL 578 - Major Literacy Genres

Institution:
The Citadel
Subject:
English
Description:
Studying literature through the framework of genre focuses on how writers have navigated established modes and conventions of artistic production. Whether focusing on the early development of a major genre such as the novel in the 18th century or the broader history of the African-American sonnet over the past few centuries, a genre-studies approach begins with questions of genre and form as a framework for addressing broader literary, theoretical, cultural, and historical concerns.
