The course is designed to provide students with an overview of the causes and consequences of health disparities in the US. Particular attention will be paid to examining how social determinants of health influence these disparities. Examples of disparities related to factors including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and nationality, and their intersections will be discussed. Finally, this course will include an exploration of strategies to address and reduce health disparities.
