(3-6 credits)(Prereq: A grade of 'C' or better in 2 lecture/lab pairs from MSCI*301/L, MSCI*302/L, MSCI*304/L, or MSCI*305/L, or permission of instructor. A contract must be approved by the instructor and the Department Chair at time of registration.) Structured undergraduate research projects conducted with the faculty direction and participation. Projects will explore marine or related problems using the scientific method. One conference and no less than five laboratory or field research hours per week. No more than six total credit hours of an independent study, internship, and/or directed undergraduate research, and/or senior thesis may be used for major credit. Repeatable with permission of instructor and department chair, and new course contract. F,S,Su.
