This course will explore the widely held understanding of the term teaching artist. By examining examples from the Teaching Artist practice, students will identify the skills, places, and communities where teaching artists are called to work. Furthermore, students will examine the philosophies, beliefs, and values held in the Teaching Artist profession. Finally, students will investigate the necessary tensions and questions about the Teaching Artist profession within the larger music education landscape. FS: 04/06/2022.
