Description:
Rapid transfer of advanced science and technology for manufacturing new products is essential to improve product performance and productivity, to develop advanced machinery, and to enable process innovation. This course discusses the fundamental principles behind the emerging methodologies for the novel manufacture of products from metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites. Advanced manufacturing processes such as non-traditional material removal processes, advanced solidification processes, and advances in joining processes are discussed with an emphasis on quantitative and qualitative study of specific processes.
