This course consists of didactic content related to marginality, its impact on women and society, and how it applies directly to health care. Exploration of the role of the nurse as provider of care and as researcher to marginalized populations builds upon the emphasis of holistic care. Theoretical concepts for care as they relate to the marginal paradigm are derived from multidisciplinary sources, including the biological, sociological, behavioral, theological, and ethical domains. A primary outcome of this course is a greater understanding of marginality as it relates to women and health care, health delivery, and health outcomes.
