Description: This course provides opportunities to learn music performance skills within the context of the non-Western music of Trinidad and Tobago, specifically, the steel band. Students will learn about the culture and people of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the cultural context that brought the steel band into existence. This course will use hands-on performance as well as classroom lecture. No previous musical training required. Notes: Offered periodically in the fall. Lab fee: $75.
