(Prereq: SOC 101 or SOC 102) Comparative study of policing organizations in the U.S. and selected foreign countries from a social scince perspective. Formal/informal policing; role/functions; legal bases; accountability/restraints; community relations; use of force; and illegal practices will be covered. We will examine how the politcal systems of different countries influence the way governments police their own citizens. S, odd years.
