(Prereq: PUBH 121)In this course, drug policies and laws as well as contemporary advocacy efforts impacting drug use, abuse, prevention, treatment and interdiction are examined from a public health perspective. Motivational factors that influence the use of licit and illicit drugs are explored and the psychological, socio-cultural and pharmacological/biochemical risk factors for abuse or dependence are identified, Systems providing effective drug education, prevention, treatment and interdiction are also evaluated.
