Close study of the development of a specific national or regional non-Western cinema (e.g., Japanese, Indian, Chinese, African, Middle Eastern) in terms of its aesthetic, theoretical and sociopolitical dimensions. Cinematographic and storytelling techniques in Western and non-Western filmmaking forms are compared. Preq: ENGL 3570 or WCIN 3570. Coreq: WCIN 4551.
