Various applied problems whose solutions rely on techniques and results of linear and modern algebra. Problems are selected from such areas as economics, forest management, genetics, population growth, transportation networks, cryptography, satellite communications, electronic switching circuits, chemistry, physics, sociology and others. Students are expected to have completed a graduate-level matrix algebra for secondary teachers course before enrolling in this course.
