Introduction to the fundamental concepts and historical development of abstract algebra. Topics include integers, binary operations, functions, equivalence, relations, permutations, groups, polynomials, commutative rings, integral domains, and fields. Students are expected to have completed a linear algebra course or a graduate-level matrix algebra for secondary teachers course before enrolling in this course. Preq: enrollment in the Secondary Education graduate program.
