Description:
Problem-solving approach to learning mathematics is applied to topics in modern discrete mathematics. Typical selection of topics includes logic and proof, sets, relations, functions, mathematical induction, graphs and trees, counting techniques, recurrence equations. For Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts majors in Mathematical Sciences only. Credit may not be received for both MATH 1190 and MATH 1290. Preq: MATH 1060 or MATH 1070. Coreq: MATH 1291.
