Provides Early Childhood Education majors an understanding of teaching reading in the elementary school setting in kindergarten through third grade. Students investigate general principles of language and literacy development and learn methods for teaching and assessing children's literacy. Meets Read to Succeed state teacher certification requirements. Preq: Admission to the professional level. Coreq: EDEC 4000.
