Historical development of evolutionary theory; natural and sexual selection; micro-and macroevolution; mass extinctions; current concepts of phylogeny and systematics; human evolution. Laboratories illustrate lecture concepts as well as readings from the primary literature. Three class and three laboratory hours per week. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in BIOL U301 and BIOL U302. Corequisite: BIOL U375L.
