An introduction to the Bacterial and Archeal Domains, emphasizing phylogenetics, metabolic diversity, genetic regulation, and physiological activities. Discussion of signal transduction pathways, genetic transfer mechanisms, symbiosis, and the ecological significance of these processes. Three lecture hours and three laboratory hours per week.
