Description: This course will touch upon a broad range of archaeological theory, archaeological and earth science techniques used in the field, and the analysis of archaeological materials. It will examine the history of archaeology while integrating scientific analysis with socio-cultural interpretation in topics including site exploration techniques, dating methods in archeology, archaeological sites and environments, artifact analysis, material technology and reconstruction, bioarchaeology and the historical development of archaeological science as applied to geological materials. This course is a lecture based course with little to no archeological field experience provided. Notes: Offered in fall and spring.
