his course is designed to help students reach intermediate-level communicative skill in spoken and written Chinese. It also aims to establish a solid base for more advanced language learning in the context of experiencing daily life in China. By increasing students' vocabulary and knowledge of sentence patterns, the course focuses on speaking and writing in coherent and well-formed paragraphs. By the end of the semester, students are expected to (a) carry out fluent conversations about daily activities and (b) write compositions of 200 to 250 characters on subjects of their daily life and personal experiences.
