(Prereq: Open to students who have not studied Latin previously or who place into this course) Study of the fundamentals of the language at the most basic level with an emphasis on reading Latin as well as enriching one's English vocabulary and examining the cultural context of Latin (e.g., Roman way of life, art, architecture, history, literature, etc.). The evolution of modern European languages from Latin will also be studied.
