(Prereq: Grade of C or better in ENGL A101 and A102) A survey of the major theories of literary criticism. Students will learn how to discover and create meaning from literary texts by responding to and interpreting those texts in different ways; they will gain practice in criticizing literary works with the aim of establishing standards of judgment.
