Description:
The course will supplement and extend the knowledge base of Organic Chemistry 331-332. The subject matter will include a look at some general methods used to study mechanistic pathways and how the data obtained can be interpreted to deduce the accepted mechanisms for selected types of reactions. Also included will be a study of synthetic organic reactions and their applications as well as a look at methods for determining the structures of unknown organic compounds. Lecture and laboratory are integral. Two one-hour lectures and two three-hour laboratories per week.
