The concept of romanticism --which celebrates the predominance of imagination over reason and the importance of individual responses to experiences associated with such ideas as idealism, transcendentalism, individualism, liberalism, and political radicalism. This course studies literary works in which romanticism is an important element, including but not restricted to works from the early 19th century.
