This course explores the social and political forces that shape what becomes defined as criminal behavior and how society reacts to crime. The course will consider the principle theories of crime and their applications to contemporary crime issues, including corrections, rehabilitation, the organization of crime as entrepreneurial activity, and crime prevention programming.
