A historical survey of some major philosophical themes and debates within the Jewish tradition. Readings will be drawn from biblical, rabbinic, medieval, and modern sources. Texts and authors may include Job, Ecclesiastes, Pirke Avot, Philo, Maimonides, Spinoza, Mendelsohn, Rosenzweig, Buber and Levinas. NOTE: This course may not be taken for credit if credit has been received for JWST 240.
