Description:
A multi-disciplinary introduction to 20th-century Cuba, its civilization and culture including politics, economy, social history and the arts. The course will make the Cuban Revolution a particular focus - its accomplishments, and the present-day struggle over its future. Study visits, day trips, special lectures by Cuban scholars and guided study tours to museums, natural parks and Pinar del Rio province among other sites will be an integral part of this course. NOTE: This course can satisfy either the social science or humanities degree requirement.
