(Prereq: Grade of C or better in MATH A108, or consent of department). An introductory course in the fundamentals of modern statistical methods. Topics include descriptive statistics, probability, sampling, tests of hypotheses, estimation, simple linear regression, and correlation. To give students throughout the university a non-calculus based introduction to the application of modern statistical methods including descriptive and inferential statistics. Appropriate technology will be used to support the course. Primarily for students in fields other than Mathematics who need a working knowledge of statistics. (Four hours per week typically divided into two hours of lecture and two hours of collaborative learning, discussion, and exploratory activities.)
