Topics include the analysis of scientific inference (induction) and the methods and theories contributed by science to our understanding of the world. Questions explored include the following: Can we justify claims made by scientific theories? What counts as scientific "truth?" What are "laws of nature" and how are they "discovered?" The course also addresses questions that both philosophers and scientists pursue through interdisciplinary exchange in the classroom.
